Patty Disney—mother of Roy Patrick Disney, Susan Disney Lord, Abigail Disney Hauser, and Timothy Disney; and grandmother of 16—died the morning of February third of Alzheimer’s at her home in Toluca Lake, CA. She was 77.

Walt personally won 32 Academy Awards® throughout his career. To this day, Walt still holds the record for the most Oscars® won by an individual, and there is only one place where you can get an up-close look at more than 20 of the famous statuettes—The Walt Disney Family Museum.

We didn’t go to the movies much in our family, but when we did it was Disney films—and only Disney films.

Walt’s Academy Award collection began in 1932, when he took home the Academy Award for the cartoon short Flowers and Trees. While watching this film on the big screen, it was easy to imagine why the audiences of 1932 found it appealing.

The Walt Disney Family Museum is celebrating the perpetual preservation of the beloved Bambi by the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry with two special screenings of the classic 1942 animated feature. Presented in our museum’s state-of-the-art digital Fantasia-themed theatre on Saturday March 3 at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m, these screenings—and supplemental discussions—will be free with museum admission.
