Planes played an important role in Walt’s life during the early 1940s. In 1941, Walt and a group of Studio artists traveled by plane to South America on a goodwill tour, studying the culture and history of the continent, which ultimately inspired the production of later films such as Saludos Amigos (1943)and The Three Caballeros (1945). Then, in 1943, Walt financed the production Victory Through Air Power (1943), an animated feature film about how war planes would be the key to victory in World War II and beyond, based on a book of the same name. Learn more about the South American tour and Victory Through Air Power in Gallery 6, and then join us to create your own animation of a soaring plane, using timing and spacing to chart its path through the sky.
