This year, in honor of Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary, we will be making multiple stops around the Resort and delving into its history. Our first stop is EPCOT.
In 1983, a small purple dragon named Figment made his debut and joined the list of many famous animated Disney dragons. Figment, originally from the Journey Into Imagination attraction in EPCOT, made appearances in many educational short films and has become an iconic mascot for the Park. Follow along with us as we look at the history of animated dragons and teach you how to draw and animate one using 2D hand-drawn animation. Learn the physics of how wings carry creatures in flight and utilize design, volume, and weight to create a simulation of a dragon pushing itself through the air with ease and grace.
