While animation often involves movement, there are other art forms that have integrated themselves to help further reinforce the story and its characters in a film. Maquettes are a unique type of art that involves sculpting a character or prop to get a three-dimensional and comprehensive visualization of its shape and size to maintain its design consistency. This special six-week class will go over the development of maquettes throughout the years, fundamental design principles and carving techniques, and how to translate a sketch into a final sculpture of your very own character!
