Creating a character involves representing their personality through their clothing. In Walt Disney’s Cinderella (1950), we see her dress transform from literal rags to a beautiful ball gown, a symbolic representation of her character’s prevailing inner beauty. Join us in this eight-week class in which we explore character design and what it means to represent oneself inside and out. Using shape language, silhouette, and historical reference, you will experiment with drawing costumes to suit a variety of characters, emphasizing their purpose and personas.
