In conjunction with our latest special exhibition, Happiest Place on Earth: The Disneyland Story, join us for a special screening of the new documentary Disneyland Handcrafted (2026), which features recently uncovered archival footage of the hectic days leading up to the opening of Disneyland. Following the screening, Director Leslie Iwerks will discuss how this newly-rediscovered footage was found and turned into a film.

Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult who shall be responsible for the child at all times.

  • Walt’s Circle Donors: Purchase tickets beginning Tuesday, February 3 at noon PT by emailing membership@wdfmuseum.org.
  • Founding, Supporter, and Friend-level members: Purchase tickets beginning Wednesday, February 4 at noon PT by emailing membership@wdfmuseum.org.
  • All member levels: Purchase tickets online beginning Thursday, February 5 at noon PT via the Member Portal.
  • Public (non-members): Remaining tickets available online beginning Friday, February 6 at noon PT.

About the Speaker

Leslie Iwerks

Leslie Iwerks comes from a family steeped in Disney legacy. Her grandfather, Ub Iwerks, was Walt Disney’s original partner and animator and designer of Mickey Mouse, and her father, Don Iwerks, was a camera technician and inventor—both Oscar® winners and Disney Legends. Iwerks carries on that legacy as an Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker herself, well-known to Disney fans as the creator of the Emmy®-nominated series and author of the book The Imagineering Story.
