Horses have long captured the imagination of animators and filmmakers alike, dating back to the time of the zoetrope. This early animation device frequently featured artwork of a horse in its sequences to showcase the animal’s fluid motion. As featured in Gallery 8, horses also starred prominently in the classic Disney television series Zorro (1975). Zorro’s reliable steed, Tornado, would swiftly (and regularly) carry his rider out of precarious situations. In this workshop, create an animation of a horse galloping with particular focus on movement, pacing, and offset action.
