In 1941, a little flying elephant charmed the world in Dumbo. While making the film, animators were challenged with animating flight in a way that looked not only whimsical, but believable. We invite you to read about the production of Dumbo in Gallery 6, then join us in learning how to use timing, spacing, and follow-through to animate the flight path of a bird. Study how the flapping movement of the bird’s wings interacts with the physics of wind to create your own animation of a bird in flight.
