Walt Disney knew that audiences adore compelling characters and even his earliest works feature characters with strong personalities and unique designs. A distinctive design can help make characters more engaging by giving them a clear visual identity and grounding them in the time and place of the story’s setting.

Join us for this four-week class as we explore what it takes to create a well-developed character. Learn more about character styling by studying designs that center around theme, environment, and time period. Learn how to use proportion, silhouette, and shape language as well as experimenting with facial features and clothing to create your own original and believable character.

This class will be held entirely online using a video conference interface. Students will be expected to have an internet connection, camera, and microphone to communicate with the teacher and other students. Basic materials such as pencils, pens, and paper will be used in class; digital means are also accepted. Please download this PDF with the full list of materials needed, including optional extras.
