Walt Disney would bring animals or actors into the Studios for his artists to study in preparation for an animated project. Walt felt live action reference was crucial for an animator to understand the natural movement and design of a subject they were about to animate. Similarly, when Disney Legend and animator Glen Keane began production on the Academy Award®-winning short film Dear Basketball, he studied hours of basketball footage to analyze how players distinctively move around the court. Defy gravity in this animation workshop where you will learn principles of timing, exaggeration, and silhouette to animate a basketball dunk.

This program is presented in conjunction with the special exhibition Make Believe: The Art of Glen Keane.
